Evidence of Glossolalia between the First and Nineteenth Centuries

USA          Glossolalia   in the 1800’s became another name for speaking in tongues.  Sources of glossolalia could be human, Satanic or from the Holy Spirit.  This researcher is primarily interested in the glossolalia given on the Day of Pentecost where the 120 disciples received the infilling of the Holy Spirit giving them power to witness of the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  The research centers on Christians who went forth in power bringing others into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

 

          The goal of this paper is to either prove or disprove Holy Spirit Glossolalia   has never stopped.  With the help of authors dating from the first century to the twentieth century this goal was accomplished.  Holy Spirit tongues as well as the other gifts of the Spirit have not stopped.  During some centuries the evidence dwindled, yet there was always a remnant.

 

          The researcher sees a need in the body of Christ to draw closer to the Lord Jesus, use His gifts to win souls and stop arguing.   The gifts are available to all who have invited Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. They have the Holy Spirit in them. Jesus while on earth, Father was the Holy Spirit yet when He was baptized in the River Jordan the Holy Spirit came down from the Father on Him and gave Him power.
