Short Biography
Amos is not mentioned living with his
parents in 1860, thus we can only assume he moved away from home by the age of
12. His father died when he was around 16. At the age of 25 he married Susan
Smith on August 27,1873 in Platte, Nebraska. Susan emigrated with her family
from England in 1850 at around the age of 1. Her father Joseph David Smith and
her mother Martha Worsey Smith are listed on their marriage certificate.
Amos settled down to farming. Four
children had joined their family by 1880. Also living with them was Susan's
widowed father David Smith. Thirty years later (1910) Amos is now going by Emel
F Jockisch with only two children living with them: Ralph age 22 and his brother
Louis age 18.
Amos passed away at the age of 61 in
1916. Frederick A Jockisch at the age of 42 was living with his 72 year old
mother in 1920. She passed away at the age of 76 on December 27,1925.
Ten children were born to Amos and
Susan: Charles A, Fredrick Amos, James Alvin, Mary E, Franklin L, Martha M,
Julius, Louis, Ralph Ervin, Margaret Maggie E, and Louis (Lewis) Henry.
Some of their grown children appear
in the 1920 census. Their daughter Merolyn E. (Jockisch) Trindall age had moved

them was Maude's sister Ethel Raitt age 23. Theodore W Jockisch & his wife
Parlee M were still living in Alabama with one child age 10.
Ten years later (1930) James A
Jockisch age 52 is living Columbus, Platte, and Nebraska married to Myrtle age

Short Biography
As mentioned above
Ralph lived at home until he was at least 22 where he helped his dad with the
farm. Like all young men he registered for the draft. The draft records give his
birth date as June 12,1886 in Rising City, Butler County, Nebraska.
February 28 he married Maude Raitt
around the age of 31. Ralph learned the trade of masonry and became recognized
for his skillfulness. Their first three children were born in Nebraska. They
moved to California around 1925 and eventually settled in Monrovia.
A news paper article below shows his
brother and him plastering a bank. On his house he put up the sign R E Jockisch,
Plastering brick and stone, Mason. Ralph worked on Boulder Dam that later became
known as Hoover Dam.
Ralph played the mandolin and his brother Fred the guitar at the First Christian
Church. When Ralph's oldest child Frances had learned to play the Clarinet she
joined them.
Maude had inherited some land from
her parents. After moving to California, she sold it so her and her husband
could put a down payment on the house where they lived. The landlord wanted to
sell, and they wanted to buy.
In 1931 their youngest child was
born. Little did they know that Ralph would pass away in 1946 of a heart attack.
Having this youngest child David Dale at home greatly helped Maude at this time.
World War II
started in the late 30's, early 40's. Ray their oldest son joined the service
and their third child Easter became a lady Marine.
Maude after
the passing of her husband went to work at various jobs. For a while she worked
for assessors department. Another time she worked in a factory making ceramic
animals. Besides all this she was a seamstress. Another way of bringing in
income was by using one of the rooms that had a door to the outside as rental.
After David
moved out, the big house wasn't needed so she sold it and purchased another. In
December of 1982 she passed away at the age of 87.
I was quite a bit younger when this picture was taken

happiness. They will reside here Rising City.

After the others, came the plasterers, it would be a queer structure without
their handiwork. George Wright has the contract for this work and he has with
him such willed tried men as Ralph and Fred Jockisch and Carl Olson.

Louis (Fay) Henry Jockisch
Louis was the 2nd to the last child born to Emil and Susan Jockisch Nov. 6,1891. In high school he was given the nick name of Fay. As a young man Louis left home and went into the wrestling profession and traveled many states. He became a noted champion, known as Dynamite Fay. He also was a Plastering Contractor and Cement Finisher in Los Angeles, California and elsewhere.
His most important event in his life was when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord. His next important event was when- he met Ethel May Hoff, and was married in Yuma in Sept. 27,1937. It was a second marriage for both, however this second marriage they let Jesus Christ become the Head of their household.
On December 31,1951 Louis was ordained a minister of the Pentecostal, Baptist Church of God in Elbi, Washington. He was also ordained in the Galilean Church in Ventura, California in 1951. Also his wife Ethel was soloist. Louis Jockisch led many people to the Lord under his Ministry being given by the Holy Spirit the gift of healing. One person, a relative of ours, Jack Mattson was led to the Lord by him and also received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
In his later years, his home life was given to much study and prayer, until he went into a rest home at the age of 88 in Anaheim, California. He had a sound mind up until the end and was always happy in the Lord.
The scripture tells, “I give you not the spirit of fear but of love, and power and a sound mind.” When his work was finished here he went to be with Jesus and all the Saints in Glory. He left this world August 6,1981. A couple of hours before his departure he asked his nurse to dress him in nice clothes because he knew he was going home that day.
J. D. Smith the father of Susan Frances Smith and grandfather of Ralph Jockisch wrote the following about his mother.
