Services Held for William Jokisch


         
Funeral services for William E. Jokisch of Arenzville, who died Wednesday at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 25 days, were held yesterday afternoon in Arenzville.
A prayer service was held at 1:45 o'clock at the Simpson Funeral home in Arenzville, after which services were held at 2:30 o'clock at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Arenzville. The Rev. E. A. Slottag was in charge of the services. Interment was in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
        "Have Thine Own Way, Lord" and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" were sung by Mrs. Robert Brasell, Mrs. E. A. Slottag, Miss Rose Ann Ruppel and Miss Ruth Dahman. Mrs. Inez Dahman played the organ accompaniment.
Flowers were cared for by Mrs. H. C. Brockhouse, Mrs. Grace Zulauf, Mrs. Norma Schweer, and Inez Lovekamp.
        Pallbearers were Dick Fricke, Ralph Schweer, Herman Lovekamp, Robert Hierman, William Bielschmidt, and Chester Carls.

            Mrs. Emma Jokisch, 82, native of Beardstown, died yesterday morning at Our Saviour's Hospital, Jacksonville, where she had been a patient three months.
            Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Virginia with the Rev. Floyd Brewer in charge. Interment will be in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery. The body was taken to the Massie Funeral Home in Virginia where friends may call this evening.
            Mrs. Jokisch was the wife of the late Frank Jokisch. She was born in this city July 17, 1870, daughter of Henry and Katherine Serth Hessler.
She is survived by two sons, Orvil of Literberry and Clarence of Virginia; a daughter, Mrs. Albert Brodkhouse of Virginia; two sisters Mrs. Otto Boensel and Mrs. Albert Korte, both of Bluff Springs and six grandchildren.

FUNERAL WILL OCCUR TODAY


Remains of Mrs. Chas. Jockisch, Who Died Monday Morning, Will be Laid to Rest Today.
               The funeral services over the body of Mrs. Charles O. "Pearl" Jockisch, of Bluff Springs, who died at 11:30 o'clock Monday morning, will be held this Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the late residence and the body will be laid to rest in the German cemetery.


               Mrs. Jockisch as well known in this city, where she resided for many years, being a daughter of Mr. Frank Rhineberger, a conductor on the Burlington railroad. Besides her husband and one son, four months of age she leaves her father and two brothers, Ray and Clarence Rhineberger to mourn her demise.

 

He had  only one son by Pearl which was 4 months old March 1911

Clinton Lloyd Jockisch, Sr., 77. of Godfrey died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, November 20. 1994 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.
        He was born March 31, 1917 in Bluff Springs. the son of Henry A. and Rosa Della Williams Jockisch. He married Margaret Faye Terpening in East Alton on August 5, 1944. She died January 21. 1994.
He is survived by two daughters. Terry L. Fones of Godfrey and BettyJ. Ries of St. Petersburg. FL; three sons. Clinton Lloyd Jockisch, Jr. and Thomas Lee Jockisch. both of Godfrey, and Dennis Michael Jockisch of Yakima, WA; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother. Homer Jockisch of Shipman; and one sister, Annabelle Hayes of Mogadore. OH.
        He was preceded in death by his parents. five brothers and two sisters.
He was a National Guard veteran and a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge 25 AF&AM in Alton. He retired in 1977 after 30 years as a machinist at Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Godfrey.
        Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 23. at the Mayflower Congregational Church in Godfrey with the Rev. David Cox officiating.
Burial was in the Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Funeral For Mr. Jockisch to be Sunday


Funeral services for Mr. J. Victor Jockisch, who died at his home here Friday afternoon, will be held at the Congregational church on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock following short services at the home at 1020 Washington street at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. A. E. Beddoes, pastor of the Congregational church officiating. Interment will be made in City Cemetery with the Masons in charge.


OBITUARY


John Victor Jockisch, son of Wm. Jockisch and Elizabeth Rohn-Jockisch was born on a farm southeast of this city. At the age of nine he moved to Beardstown where he attended the public schools and later the Jacksonville Business College where he graduated.
           He worked as a boy for Henry Unland in the grocery business and later for Kuhl Brothers in the dry goods business until he became a partner in the Phil Kuhl and Jockisch dry goods business which partnership continued for 41 years, the business being known as "The Model". After Mr. Phil Kuhl retired from the business Mr. Jockisch was sole proprietor of "the Model" for ten years, retiring in 1919.
           On June 1, 1893, he was united in marriage in Springfield, Illinois, to Miss Johanna Jockisch also of this city, and to this union one child , Mrs. Zelma Jockisch was born who with the wife survive him.
           He is also survived by three grandchildren, Marjorie Ice, age 12, Barbara Ice, age 11 and Noel Victor Ice, 3 and one-half years, together with one sister, Mrs. Tom Brines of Pleasant view and two nieces, Mrs. Florence Brines-Strong of Pleasant view, Mrs. Rosa Brines-Tribbey of Rushville and one nephew, Russell Henning of Beardstown.
           Four sisters have preceded him in death, Mrs. Anna Allard, Mrs. Rosa Henning, Mrs. Addie Jockisch and one who died in infancy.
           The deceased was a man of upright character and integrity and a man who held the highest respect of those with whom he was associated. he was an especially kind father and husband, always devoting himself to the happiness of his family.
           Mr. Jockisch had been director of the First National Bank of this city for the past thirty years. He was a member of the Congregational church here and was a prominent member of Masonic Order belonging to the Cass Lodge A. F. and A. M. Clark Chapter R. A. M., Council, No. 88 and Royal and Select Masons here, the Knight Templers at Rushville and the Ansar Shrine and the Consistory at Springfield.
           Mr. Jokisch was taken ill last June and was taken to the St. John's hospital for treatment. He was brought to his home and later taken back to the hospital in Springfield where he submitted to an operation on September 12th.

           Everything possible was done for his relief but to no avail and while he had seemingly been improved he was taken suddenly worse this week, succumbing Friday October 23rd.
